Double-Drum Winch & Spud Setup

Download printable instructions (1900k pdf)

1. Position the spud pockets one connection forward from
the opposing spud.
2. 5/8” cable is needed and is supplied by the contractor.
3. Spot weld a piece of 8” or 10” pipe cut in half in front of the spud to
direct the cable down along side of the spud. Vertical Lead Blocks
should be used for long term or heavy usage.
4. Carefully wind the cable onto the first drum until it covers the entire
drum, then run the cable to the opposite spud.
5. Direct the cable over the pipe or lead block, down to the bottom of
the spud, through the sheave and then back up the other side. Clamp
the line off on the spud pocket.
6. Do the same with the second drum, direct the line through the snatch
block, tied to the Hairpin connector, then return the cable to the spud
behind the winch.
7. Follow the same steps outlined in step 5.
8. Both Spuds can not be raised and lowered with the winch.
